The Lichen Portraits is a series of graphite and ink drawings depicting lichen found growing on stones within walking distance of my studio. I drew on 9”x10” panels using inks made from plants growing nearby. Goldenrod flowers, pokeweed berries, acorn caps, and black walnut husks are the source of the brown, gold, pink and green pigments in these drawings.   In October 2022 The Lichen Portraits were displayed in Unseen Biology, an invitational exhibit at Olin College.
